Enduro Hike to the Great St. Bernard Pass

With an elevation of 2,469 m (8,100 ft) the Great St. Bernard Pass is the third highest road pass in Switzerland. Even though it is a good 250 km ride for us from Aarau to the Bernard Pass peak it is really worth every effort to get there. The 74 km long road connects western Switzerland with Italy, leading from Martigny on the upper Rhone river in the Swiss canton of Valais to Aosta (I). There are numerous places along the road where it is possible to stop and enjoy the magnificent view. Take along your mobile "kitchen", e.g. a small Trangia cooker - as we always do - and have a traditional Swiss Cervella sausage along with a terrible instant coffee. Unbeatable up there!
